Today is the fifth day of the fifth lunar month in the Chinese calendar, one of the traditional Chinese folk festivals - the Dragon Boat Festival, also called the Festival of the Fifth Month.
People eat zongzi (pyramid-shaped dumpling made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves) on this particular day. People also hold dragon-boat races. It is said that these activities commemorate the great patriotic poet Qu Yuan in ancient China.
